FieldVibe is a mobile app designed specifically for businesses with field teams, such as plumbing, electrical, lawn care, and HVAC services. Initially developed under Mobiversal's umbrella, the app began to gain traction and attract its first paying customers. Once FieldVibe approached product-market fit, it received a round of funding from angel investors, aimed at development and scaling. However, since these funds were modest (relative to typical seed investments), FieldVibe faced a dilemma: it couldn’t afford to hire a full-time team of developers (for iOS, Android, backend, and web) along with a designer, as that would quickly drain its funds within just a few months. Freelancing was also a challenging option, as managing five separate contractors without a cohesive team environment would have proven inefficient and risky.

The Mobiversal Approach

Given these constraints, FieldVibe opted for a service package from Mobiversal, which provided an efficient and scalable solution. The package included all five key resources-developers for iOS, Android, backend, and web, plus a designer, exactly how much FieldVibe would have needed (less than part-time for some and full time for others). Additionally, Mobiversal supplied a CTO to guide technical decisions, CEO-level consulting, and regular sessions with Mobiversal’s product experts to refine strategy and execution.

Results

Flexible Cost Structure

FieldVibe was able to contract resources on a fractional basis, with some resources working as little as 10% of full-time (e.g. the CTO), saving significantly compared to hiring full-time staff. When a full-time web developer was needed, Mobiversal quickly provided one without the need for FieldVibe to undergo a lengthy hiring process.

Liability and Accountability:

Unlike freelancers, Mobiversal took full responsibility for on-time, high-quality deliverables. This approach reduced FieldVibe’s risk and ensured reliable service, providing security and stability that outweighed the slightly higher costs associated with an agency model.
